Full Corporate VET Ownership and Conflict-of-Interest Disclosures in UK, NZ & Australia
The Issue
Demand Full Corporate Ownership and Conflict-of-Interest Disclosures in All UK and Australasian Veterinary Practices
We call on the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and the Commerce Commission to mandate absolute, prominent on-site and digital transparency regarding corporate ownership within the veterinary sector.
Millions of companion animal owners visit their local veterinary surgeries every day believing they are consulting an independent, trusted, community-based professional. In reality, a massive corporate land-grab has allowed private multinational conglomerates and private equity chains to quietly buy up over 60% of the high street. They deliberately retain the original, historic family names on the doors and uniforms to exploit legacy public trust.
This hidden consolidation denies consumers their basic statutory rights to make an informed commercial choice. It forces veterinarians to operate within a closed, vertically integrated financial loop where standard diagnostic criteria, blood chemistry reference parameters, and therapeutic options are entirely owned and dictated by the parent food-manufacturing monopolies.
Furthermore, we demand that any non-practising media veterinarian or public policy advocate who campaigns for restrictive biosecurity networks, mandatory municipal registries, or compulsory cat containment be legally required to append a formal Conflict-of-Interest Statement to all public materials. The public has a right to know whether a media figure pushing the total enclosure of companion animals into processed-diet dependency is an active commercial stakeholder or owner of an independent pet food enterprise sourcing from the animal-protein rendering complex.
Stop the greenwashed corporate land-grab. Demand absolute transparency, independent diagnostic autonomy, and the protection of companion animal biological sovereignty.
