The Issue

For 25 years I've stood with the Palestinian people as they suffered under a violent apartheid regime. For nearly three years, I've watched this genocide unfold, and I've learned this: silence is a choice. There is a right side of history during a crime against humanity, and it's time Seattle stood on it — together, and without hesitation.

I'm calling on the City of Seattle, with support from King County and Washington State, to organize a benefit concert at Lumen Field, headlined by our own Macklemore — joined by the artists who walked off Ed Sheeran's tour in solidarity with him and with Palestine.

When Macklemore spoke out against the suffering in Gaza and called for Palestinian liberation, he showed the moral courage too many leaders lack. Seattle has always been a city that leads, not follows — on labor rights, on climate, on justice. Now genocide demands the same clarity. This is our chance to show the country what it looks like when a city chooses conscience over comfort.

My proposal is that after ticket sales cover the cost of organizing, that every remaining dollar raised would go directly to trusted humanitarian organizations delivering food, medical care, and shelter to Gaza's civilians — a direct, tangible act of solidarity, not just a symbolic one.

We're asking the City of Seattle, King County, the State of Washington, and Lumen Field to come together and make this happen — and in doing so, to model the moral leadership this moment requires. I'm also asking our civic leaders to work with local business partners to raise funds for this effort.

Your signature says what our leaders won't: that genocide is not a matter of opinion, that our tax dollars should not fund it, and that Seattle is ready to stand — together, unequivocally — on the side of humanity. Sign now, and help make Seattle the moral leader this moment needs.
