The Friends of Vic High applaud the decision by the BC Supreme Court that ruled that the Greater Victoria School Board DID NOT have the authority to suspend two trustees for the remainder of their terms.

JORDAN WATTERS AND FOUR OTHER TRUSTEES (GANG OF FIVE) used their majority vote to suspend Diane McNally and Rob Paynter when they had no authority to do so. As a result, critical votes and decisions made before the Board were compromised by the absence of McNally and Paynter.

The court decision also throws doubt on the integrity of Board decisions prior to the suspensions of McNally and Paynter, including the vote that granted a Statutory Right of Way to the City of Victoria (on Vic High land) - a decision the FOVH believes was intended to circumvent the Ministry of Education’s authority and SD61's obligations, to the detriment of current and future students of Vic High and the surrounding community.

The Friends of Vic High believe Jordan Watters SHOULD NOT  BE REELECTED for another term - she must be held accountable for her misguided actions.

The FOVH encourages all voters to re-elect Diane McNally, Rob Paynter, Nicole Duncan, and Ann Whitaker, and to elect Angela Cooper-Carmichael and Esther Callo.

Make your vote count on October 15.  Thank you.

Friends of Vic High
