Hello supporters,

Trust you have had a great summer. Our volunteer team and legal counsel have been very busy preparing our legal case for our court challenge to SD61 Re: the improper transfer of Vic High land that has impeded the envisioned plans for a standard metric track and other athletic amenities for the now demolished Memorial Stadium. We will have news on the timing of our court filing in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned. Thanks again to all those that generously donated.

VOTE FOR ESTHER CALLO FOR TRUSTEE SD61

On October 15, voters in Victoria will have the opportunity to elect nine trustees to School District 61 board. On behalf of the Friends of Vic High, I am proud to announce our endorsement of that Esther Callo for School District 61 Trustee. Esther is one of the co-founders of the Friends of Vic High and someone that has worked tirelessly to make public the issues around Vic High's Memorial Stadium funding and the related land grab shenanigans by School District 61 School Board.

Esther has been singularly focused on one objective. To ensure the students of Vic High, present and future, do not continue to be systematically disadvantaged by school board policies that set aside equity and equality.

A little about Esther in her own words: 

"I am seeking election to put students first and prioritize equity, including support for SOGI 123 and anti-racism initiatives. As a pre-service teacher with five years of experience, as an Educational Assistant (EA), and seventeen years of experience as a parent volunteer and PAC director, I am ready to serve in the role of trustee.

Despite the best efforts of educators, EAs, and support staff, years of cuts are harming education and failing students. I will work to mobilize financial support from the Ministry of Education to protect music programs, green space, and staffing and to provide seismically safe schools equipped with shop, playground, and sports infrastructure.

The public deserves due process. Three years of research and Freedom of Information requests have given me access to undisclosed documents and records. As a public education advocate, I value public process and plan to make access to information a priority in SD61."
