Dear Petition Supporters, As we look to this election to address some of the overwhelming development related issues, please remember to reference the candidates' VOTING RECORDS. The Mayor and City Council impact our daily routines, property values, and quality of life with each development decision. Rezoning lots and rubber stamping approvals for increased-density development projects, regardless of dangerous and irrational impacts to our infrastructure: traffic gridlock, deficient parking, lack of seats in neighboring schools, environmental impacts or water/energy neutrality has impacted all our lives. There is little remediation, and conditions will become worse as their approvals come to fruition. Elect those candidates who are NOT beholden to developers; those who have not shown a proclivity to "love every project". If you believe that past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior, vote for the candidates who have SHOWN that they will stand up against projects that have insufficient merit to warrant our accepting of the unintended yet negative consequences that must accompany each project. As you can see by the voting record, Mayor Bill Harrison has NEVER voted against a development project. Thus far, only Lily Mei (running for Mayor) and Vinnie Bacon (running for City Council) have not taken, and have pledged not to take, developer funds. Lily Mei said, ’In this election and ones past I have declined support from developers. I pledge to continue to do so for this election’. If you know of other candidates making this pledge, please share.
