Our senior citizens have spent decades contributing to the growth and development of Rockdale County. However, as property values and living costs rise, fixed-income seniors—especially those in their 70s, 80s, and 90s—are being priced out of the very homes they have owned for a lifetime.

While Rockdale County offers partial school tax relief for seniors aged 62 and older based on strict criteria, it falls short of the absolute protections provided by neighboring counties like Cobb and Forsyth, which completely exempt seniors from school taxes.

We, the residents of Rockdale County, request that the Board of Commissioners and the Board of Education take immediate action to implement a 100% total exemption from all school and education taxes for seniors over a specific age or localized income threshold. No elderly resident should face the threat of losing their primary home to fund school bonds they have spent a lifetime paying into.
