January 28, 2019, was a grim anniversary for Peter Biar Ajak - six months in detention.
The South Sudanese government is still imprisoning him at the notoriously dangerous 'Blue House', run by the National Security Service. He hasn't seen his lawyers - or his wife and two kids - for months.
Peter hasn't been charged with any crime. He's still in jail because he has a vision for how South Sudan's government can do better for its people, a vision that runs counter to many of the people currently in government.
Peter's international lawyers have formally petitioned the UN to look into his case, emphasising that "peaceful political activism and speech cannot be criminalised or punished."
Though Peter is still imprisoned, your signatures have brought much-needed attention to his case - and now more than ever we need to keep shining a light on Peter's imprisonment to ensure he remains unharmed and is released back to his wife and two kids as soon as possible.
Please SHARE the petition with everyone in your network. There are so many things South Sudan must do to turn the page from the awful last five years of civil war. Freeing Peter Biar Ajak - and others also jailed for political activism and speech - is one of the easiest steps.
Let's keep up support for Peter. Let's get him re-united with his family. Together, we can do this.
