Why this petition matters

Started by Warren Peart

Our beautiful dog, Walter, was dragged away by local council authorities without telling us where they were taking him. It’s been more than 100 days and nobody has told us where our boy is or what’s going to happen to him next. I’m calling on the South Gippsland Council to follow a just and fair process for assessing dog attack claims.

The council authorities that took our dog away were rude and arrogant. Throughout the process, the emotional well-being of Walter was not even considered. The council is not replying to any enquiries I’m making. They have not told us where our boy is and we aren’t allowed to visit him - this is completely wrong and unfair.

All I know is that the council received a complaint against Walter by a guest of mine who he nipped after she slapped his face, on our property. A letter was sent to us informing us of the seizure but nobody is willing to talk to us about the case, or answer any questions. I’m against the way this case is being handled.

According to local laws, we should have received an authorized notice informing us about the fees and charges payable, but we’ve had absolutely no communication concerning this. I’m calling for a review of local government procedures to emphasize dog care when impounding pets and prioritizing communication with the owners.

Our poor baby doesn’t know what’s happening. We don’t know what’s happening. Please sign and share this petition to help us reunite with Walter.
