Innocence in a country like America should overrule any technicality, should overcome any barrier, should expedite the process, should be the key to liberty and freedom. However, being innocent of the crime of which one has been wrongfully convicted in America does NOT overrule technicality. Innocence is NOT a remover of barrier, for the incarcerated innocent the process of regaining liberty is dilatory, painful, traumatic and uncertain. There are very few advocates, even fewer resources, and a paucity of ways to prove your innocence. The common (false) narrative that ALL of the incarcerated claim to be innocent is propagated and believed by far too many and is absolutely devastating for those attempting to clear their name. The Criminal Injustice System is not designed to overturn convictions. There are an indescribable number of hurdles to clearing one's name. Without funding, attaining qualified counsel is next to impossible. Without qualified counsel, the odds of having success appealing a conviction are astronomical. If there is no success on appeal via the courts, that leaves the Governor (commutation, pardon, or reprieve) good luck. Clearing your name, unlike in the movies is not supported by those deemed keepers of justice. Undoubtedly, many in position of power know of my circumstance and are unwilling to act. Too many factors other than protecting the rights, dignity and liberty of all come into the equation and countless innocent women and men suffer as a result. How will righting this wrong make me look? How much money will this cost the system? How do we protect our fellow officers, lawyers, judges, etc.? There are estimations of how many are wrongfully convicted, there is data that shows thousands of exonerated citizens. None of the data or estimations accurately explain the pain, degradation, scars, mental anguish, abuse, or the horrific impact upon individuals, families, communities and the Country as a whole. Innocence in America should.

But innocence is not enough, fighting back is not enough, evidence is not enough. I continue to fight in order to clear my name and regain my liberty. Unfortunately, I have lost my twenties, thirties, my beloved mother, my father and countless other invaluable everything's.

Over the next few posts, I will be making clear the overwhelming evidence that point to my innocence as well as the lack of credibility of the evidence utilized to convict me. Next post part one : (Eye witness statement)... wearethesrc.org
