The Newcastle Coal Protests by protest group Blockade Australia has seriously affected the general public and caused lots of stress and anger towards customers using the Hunter Rail Line between Maitland and Newcastle. We call on Transport Minister Jo Haylen, Maitland MP Jenny Aitchinson, Newcastle MPS Sharon Claydon and Tim Crakanthorpe and New South Wales Premier Chris Minns to implement free use on the Hunter Rail Line for two weeks when the protests by Blockade Australia have concluded and to investigate why there are no buses to replace trains during these troubled times. Commuters on the Hunter Line have suffered enough through natural disasters, train strikes and we believe that the current situation with Blockade Australia is the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
