FREE PERIOD.

FREE PERIOD.
The Issue
From adolescence, young women and people assigned female at birth are taught their bodies come with a price. Tampons and pads i.e (feminine products) are a medical necessity for women to live normal lives.
Medical Insurance companies provide coverage for health care services and medical expenses. However, menstruation is not considered a part of our basic health care coverage. Why is that? Benefit packages state they include costs of routine care, women live and must accommodate with their menstrual cycles, from when it starts as young as 8 years old and can last up until the rest of their lives. How is this not considered routine care? Most women menstruate every month and will spend out-of-pocket money on feminine products. One survey by OnePoll showed an estimated amount of $13.25 spent a month on menstrual products, that's $6,360 in an average women's lifetime (ages 12-52).
Insurance companies should offer women this benefit.
Let's stand together and put an end to the price tag in exchange for the period, FREE PERIOD.
