On August 25th, 2024, French authorities arrested Pavel Durov — the founder of Telegram, a secure messaging app used by almost a billion privacy-conscious people around the world.

Telegram is a lifeline of information for people in countries with severe Internet censorship and social media restrictions, like Iran, Russia or Belarus. It's trusted because it's safe.

In 2013, Mr. Durov was kicked out of Russia because he refused to rat out user data to Vladimir Putin.

Now, he’s facing up to 20 YEARS IN PRISON for the same — this time in France.

Dear French government: Privacy is not a crime. Pavel Durov is no criminal.

Let him go.
