Dear friends and supporters of Opal,

I sincerely apologise for the long delay in providing updates on Opal’s petition. 

Last year, I was contacted by a kind individual who had a passion for rescuing animals and was equally committed to helping Opal. They had some ideas for how they would try to get Opal relocated from Natal Zoo, which they were working on. 

I was waiting to see if they made any progress, but as I’ve not heard back from this individual for several months I have to move forward with the petition on my own. My commitment to Opal remains as strong as ever, and I am determined to do everything I can to help her find a safe and loving home at a primate sanctuary - ideally at Monkey World in England, who still have a place ready for her.

I truly appreciate the patience and understanding of everyone who has supported this petition, and I am so sorry for not updating you sooner. Although it may feel impossible, I will not give up on helping Opal.
