On October 9, 2025, 28-year old, Noor Nafea Salman, a medical student at University of Virginia,  a Green Card holder and is  married to a U.S. citizen. She voluntarily met with Homeland Security agents in what she thought was a routine immigration check-in. She was abducted to an  an inhumane ICE Detention facility in Texas, then to Oklahoma.  Noor graduated high school in Virginia, got her undergraduate degree  from George Mason University,  and has 2 years left in medical school. She is hoping to return to her studies and serve her community as a physician.  Noor now finds herself stuck in an inhumane system going on 10 months, and 250 miles from her husband.  He travels that distance to see her once a week for one hour. She and her family were legally admitted to the U.S. when she was 17 years old. Her mother and siblings are U.S. citizens. 

Noor has always worked hard and paid her taxes.  A younger sister died during an asthma attack and is buried near their home in Virginia.  Noor's health is deteriorating since her confinement. She has been hospitalized several times and has fallen and believes she suffered a concussion.  Healthcare in Diamondback is almost non-existent.  The food is unpalatable. The air inside is toxic. Her family and friends are devastated by the toll this confinement is taking on her physical and mental well-being. She is enduring unimaginable conditions which not only violate her basic human rights but also put her life at risk.   This situation is not just a legal matter—it is a personal and deeply concerning crises for all who know her. Noor's health is seriously compromised both physically and emotionally.  She entered the facility in Oklahoma as a healthy young woman but this confinement has rendered her extremely weak.   

We demand that ICE release Noor immediately, so she can access the proper medical care she desperately needs. Her rights as a Permanent Resident must be respected, and she should not have to suffer another day in these barbarous conditions. She does not pose a threat to anyone.
