The Issue

This is my mum and dad

On the 29th of November 2013, our family's world was turned upside down. My dad, Craig, diagnosed my mum with a possible brain aneurysm or tumour after noticing worrying symptoms. She was rushed to the hospital for an emergency scan which revealed a massive bleed on the brain. She was immediately transferred to The Walton Centre in Liverpool where they operated on her through the night, saving her life. Since then, my mum has been enjoying her life to the fullest with my dad. They have been married for 45 years and together, they have raised three wonderful children.

Yet now, her vibrancy and the life she rebuilt is under threat. Social services have involved themselves and placed my mum in a care home, alleging she can't care for herself due to mental illness. This is despite my dad being her full-time carer and the mainstay of her support. Until recently, my mum lived comfortably and happily alongside him at our family home, where her mental and physical health made evident strides towards recovery.

The situation has escalated to the point where social services are taking our case to the Court of Protection, aiming to keep my mum in the care home indefinitely. It is distressing and unnecessary. We believe my mum's condition and well-being are best served by being with her family, at home, where she belongs and where strong family bonds guide her recovery, rather than being inside the unfamiliar walls of a care facility.

Our plea is simple: let my mum return home to the love and care that only her family can provide. My dad saved her once, and against all odds, we are confident that with continued support from home, we can navigate this challenge. This battle is more than just about legal standings—it's about compassion, understanding, and the right to live where and how one wants, surrounded by love.

Please, stand with us to give my mum the freedom to return to her rightful place at home. Sign this petition to urge the authorities to respect our wishes and let my mum live her life as she's done for so many joyous and fulfilling years.

Let's bring her back where she's meant to be—with family, love, and peace. Sign this petition to advocate for compassion and the right decision for her well-being.
