We need to meet the Foreign Secretary, Ed Miliband. Please help.

Yesterday we were supposed to hear from Mum and Craig, but yet again the call never came. I had spent the day expecting it, thinking about it and just wanting to hear their voices. When you have so little direct contact, a few minutes become hugely important, so when the phone does not ring it is a huge blow.
What makes it harder is knowing the impact on them too. These calls are a rare connection with home, with family and normality outside the prison walls; they are yet again being deprived of speaking to the people they love.
Ending their hunger strikes was not a small decision for Mum and Craig. They had spent months protesting simply to make themselves heard, and they eventually stopped, began eating again and started the long process of rebuilding their strength, on the understanding these calls would recommence.
We have now told that a consular visit is planned for 5 October, and we welcome that. We desperately want our consular team to see how they are and to check out their condition after everything they have been through. But also, as I reflect, I realise this will be only the second visit this year. 
They have been held hostage for nearly two years; a visit, whilst necessary, does not bring them home. 
That is why we are now pushing hard for a meeting with Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. As a family we need to sit across the table from the Foreign Secretary and explain exactly where Mum and Craig are now, understand the strategy being pursued to secure their release and have a serious conversation about what more can be done. We don’t need to be managed or placated by well-meaning officials, we need him to take decisive action. He needs to understand that kicking the can along the road will not make this problem go away. And that while the can is being kicked, Mum and Craig are suffering daily.
I have always tried to be fair about the work being done behind the scenes. There are people within the Foreign Office who work hard and care, and I recognise that. We welcome the involvement of Alistair Burt and have engaged constructively with him. But his role has limitations which he recognises; ultimately there are decisions, conversations and diplomatic judgments that sit at ministerial level. That is why getting Mum and Craig’s case directly in front of the Foreign Secretary matters.
So this is where I am asking for your help.
Please write now to Ed Miliband to ask him to meet us urgently. Tag him in on social media posts asking for him to do this. Please also write to your own MP and ask them to support our request for that meeting.
It does not need to be a long or complicated message. You do not need to know every detail of the case. Simply saying that you are concerned about their continued detention, the lack of regular family contact and the delays around consular access, and that you support our request for the Foreign Secretary to meet the family, would mean a great deal.
The support behind Mum and Craig has already been extraordinary, but this is a moment where that support can be focused on something very specific. 
So please help us keep their case firmly in front of the people who need to see it. Write to the Foreign Secretary, write to your MP, share the petition and encourage others to do the same. After more than 600 days, our objective remains exactly the same: we want Mum and Craig home.
