This journey has a strange way of taking you from one extreme to another.
Sundays and Mondays have become particularly difficult for us as a family because they are the days we have come to expect a phone call from Mum and Craig. You try not to build your hopes around it, but you do. You wait, you keep your phone close, and when nothing comes the silence feels incredibly heavy.
This week, the call did not come when we expected it.
Then yesterday, completely out of nowhere, it did.
After the disappointment of the previous couple of days, hearing from them again brought a huge amount of relief. We were told that these calls should hopefully return to being a weekly occurrence. After everything that has happened, we know better than to take anything for granted, but yesterday was one of those rare moments where we could allow ourselves to feel a little bit of hope.
And there is another milestone that belongs just as much to all of you as it does to us.
This petition has now passed 100,000 signatures.
More than 100,000 people have now put their name behind Mum and Craig and said that what is happening to them matters.
When we first started this petition, we simply needed people to listen. We needed their names to be seen, their story to be heard and their situation not to disappear into the background.
Every signature has helped us do that.
Whether you signed months ago, shared the petition with one person or hundreds, donated to support the campaign, contacted someone on their behalf, or have simply continued following their story, you have helped keep Mum and Craig visible.
That visibility matters.
Meetings continue to take place. Support continues to grow. Their case continues to be raised with those who have the ability and responsibility to act, and our family and the wider campaign continue to apply pressure for justice.
We have also been told that a consular visit is expected in the coming weeks. After so much uncertainty, we remain cautious about getting ahead of ourselves, but it is something we have pushed for continuously and something Mum and Craig desperately deserve.
There are still incredibly hard days. There are moments where it feels as though progress is being made, followed by periods of silence that bring all the uncertainty flooding back.
That is the reality of this journey.
But more than 100,000 of you have now shown us that we are not walking it alone.
Our family will keep pushing. The campaign will keep pushing. We will keep taking the meetings, asking the difficult questions and doing everything we can to keep Mum and Craig’s case impossible to ignore.
