Dear supporters,
We are heartbroken to share yet another deeply troubling update regarding Imran Rzayev, who remains detained in one of Florida’s harshest immigration facilities — known among locals as the “Alligator Alcatraz.”
🔺 Imran was accidentally poisoned after drinking contaminated water, caused by a chlorine tablet left inside the facility’s drinking water tank during a recent repair. Whether this was an act of negligence or something intentional remains unclear — but the consequences were severe.
What makes this incident even more dangerous is the fact that Imran has a documented sensitivity to chemical agents — he has long suffered from allergic reactions to chlorine and similar substances. The ingestion of even a small dose can trigger serious health consequences, as it tragically did in this case.
After drinking the tainted water, Imran immediately felt violently ill. He experienced symptoms consistent with chemical poisoning — dizziness, weakness, nausea, breathing difficulties — and repeatedly begged detention staff for help. He was ignored for nearly seven hours.
Only when he lost consciousness was he finally taken to the hospital. There, instead of receiving humane care, he was treated like a convicted criminal: three armed guards stood over his bed, and he was handcuffed to it throughout his stay.
He remained hospitalized for four days, during which he was not allowed to contact his family or legal representatives. For four long days, no one knew if he was alive.
When he was returned to the facility, the inhumanity continued: he was immediately denied further access to medication or follow-up treatment, despite his known medical condition.
🔻 Soon after this incident, a group of public officials — possibly senators — visited the facility. Imran and other detainees used the opportunity to speak up, telling the truth about the horrifying conditions inside: being treated worse than animals, denied medical care, restricted from going outside, and starved.
The response from facility staff? Retaliation.
Since that day, detainees have not been allowed out for fresh air, and food portions have been reduced even further.
Let us be clear:
Imran is not a criminal. He entered the U.S. legally and is waiting for a decision on his asylum case.
He — and many others like him — are being punished for seeking protection.
This is cruelty.
This is neglect.
This is a humanitarian crisis unfolding inside the U.S. immigration system.
We ask all of you to help us spread this story, share the petition, and demand justice.
