The Issue

Armande is not just a colleague, she is a friend and an inspiring force in her community. For years, she has been a beacon of positivity and resilience, always bringing light to every meeting we attended together. Together, we led the Women in Engineering Employee Resource Group (ERG), where Armande passionately worked to ensure all women at our company felt a sense of belonging and empowerment. Her commitment was unwavering, and she left a lasting impact on everyone she interacted with.

Now, Armande is facing an incredibly challenging situation. Detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), she is being held without bond in the U.S. Immigration Detention system. This is an untenable situation for someone who has contributed so much to her community, and it is crucial that ICE grants her bond and releases her immediately so she can continue her positive work and remain with her loved ones.

Armande came to the United States seeking opportunity and safety, much like many others who have made significant contributions to our nation. Her dedication to fostering a community of inclusion within her workplace exemplifies the ideals of acceptance and progress that we strive for. It is imperative that she be allowed to pursue her case while living freely and among her supporters.

Statistics from the American Immigration Council show that individuals facing immigration proceedings without the chance for release often encounter isolating conditions and prolonged detention times, which can adversely affect their mental health and overall well-being. Moreover, it places an undue burden on the resources of the immigration system.

By immediately granting bond, ICE can demonstrate its commitment to fairness and justice, providing individuals like Armande the opportunity to continue contributing positively while navigating their legal situations.

We urge ICE to evaluate Armande Rhea Namegni's case with compassion and logic, allowing her the freedom to await trial outside of detention. Please stand with us in calling on ICE to free Armande immediately. Sign and support this petition to bring Armande home now.
