The Issue

Allison Bustillo, a 20-year-old, has been unjustly detained by ICE at Stewart Detention Center in Georgia since February 2025. Her story is one of courage and determination.

Allison came to the United States at age 8 with her mother and siblings, fleeing danger in Honduras. Despite growing up undocumented due to the cancellation of the DACA program, Allison excelled in school.

A Crest High graduate and Certified Nursing Assistance who earned scholarship to attend Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. She was building a life dedicated to helping others — until ICE ripped it away.

This petition is personal and urgent.

Allison has no criminal record. She was unlawfully detained during an ICE operation, and has now been separated from her family for over 4 months.

Known for her compassion, she worked in nursing homes, providing essential care to the elderly, and plays a key role in raising her younger brothers — one of whom is autistic.

Her single mother, a construction worker, is now struggling to support the family alone — emotionally and financially.

FACT: According to TRAC Immigration, over 80% of people held in ICE detention have no criminal convictions. Allison is not the exception — she is the rule in a system that routinely detains the innocent.
While detained, Allison has missed very important moments with her family.

This is not just about one young woman — over 530,000 immigrants in the U.S. face the threat of detention or removal, many of whom came here as children, worked hard, and followed every rule they were allowed to follow.

Allison is featured in the following wired.com article:

We ask for:
Allison Bustillo’s immediate release from ICE custody
An end to unjust detention practices that target non-criminal immigrants
Policies that recognize the humanity and potential of young people like Allison

Stand with Allison. Sign this petition to help bring her home and give her the future she worked so hard to earn.
