On behalf of Astoria Grand residents (35 John Frederick Drive, Ancaster)  we would like to petition the City of Hamilton to revisit their decision on picking up our garbage weekly (or biweekly). As homeowners, we pay property taxes that include garbage collection by the City, yet we are not being provided with this service. Private garbage pickup is costing in excess of $150,000 annually. It has been suggested to us (as a recently installed Board) that there are “issues” for the trucks however this has not been explained in any official capacity. We would like to address the following points:

• We pay property taxes for local services and board levy which include garbage collection within our property tax bills.
• Our streets qualify for emergency trucks and GFL garbage trucks also navigate our streets. Why are we being told City trucks cannot?
• We have zero parking issues that would create navigation problems on site. 
• The private corporations we pay, come in the same size trucks as the City uses. 
• This property was originally built by Losani Homes, as was the location at 1169 Garner Road E. They get their garbage picked by the City weekly on Thursdays. For all intents and purposes, the above property is a replica of our location.
