Help Preserve South Middlebush Scenic Corridor

On Sept. 14 I attended the "Somerset County Presents: Influencing Agriculture" seminar at Dukes Farm in Hillsborough, and I had a chance to talk with County Commissioner Melonie Marano and County Director of Planning Walter Lane about our petition, "Help Preserve South Middlebush Scenic Corridor," (about preserving agricultural land and stopping overdevelopment on S. Middlebush Rd and which now has 2,519 signatures), but unfortunately they both dismissed the idea and said there wasn’t anything they could do to help us , yet during the seminar Commissioners Marano and Paul Drake stressed how important it was to “preserve farm lands!” (per Somerset County Farmland Preservation Plan posted on the County's website, https://bit.ly/3DLyMVP ) I also spoke at the Somerset County Commisioners meetings on Aug. 24 and Sept. 14 about our petition. After I spoke at their Sept. 14 meeting, Director Shanel Robinson simply brushed me aside and told me to talk to Franklin Town Council (which we have done many times but to no avail!) My question is, why don’t the County Commissioners back up their high sounding words with actions and help us or at least give us encouragement and moral support? We are hearing Franklin Zoning Board is likely to vote on S. Middlebush Rd at their next meeting on Oct. 21, and Franklin town council is having their next meeting on Sept. 28. We need everyone to attend these meetings! Thank you!
