Help Preserve South Middlebush Scenic Corridor
QUESTIONS TO ASK FRANKLIN TOWN COUNCIL AT THEIR REGULAR VIRTUAL MEETING today (Tuesday May 11, 2021):
1) The properties on S. Middlebush Rd are the only land the House of Worship owns; although they have other meeting places in NJ and NY, those are rented spaces. This fact alone will tend to make Franklin draw large numbers of devotees from the other locations (and possibly their devotees from around the world?) How many hundreds - possibly even thousands - of people will converge on S. Middlebush Rd as a result? What happens if their parking lots become full? Will the overflow park on side streets or other nearby parking spaces?
2) Is it religion or 'spiritual science'? If it is not religion, does it qualify for property-tax exemptions?
3) Are any Council members involved with any big Houses of Worship in Franklin Township and what is the level of involvement?
4) Zoning Board told us that septic tanks will be placed in the ground near the houses of worship, and there will be TWO houses of worship across the street from each other on S. Middlebush Rd. Keep in mind again this will all be done in an AGRICULTURAL ZONE!
5) The state/county has not given permission to widen S. Middlebush Rd which will create a traffic nightmare and dangerous driving conditions.
6) The construction of the complex will result in the decimation of a forested ecosystem comprised of mature shade trees which house a multitude of indigenous wildlife species including endangered birds.
7) Tell the Town Council 2,163 people have signed our petition, "Help Preserve South Middlebush Scenic Corridor."
