This is why the need for a safe, secure and unbiased platform like Nextdoor App is more important than ever. As a Black American who has been using the app for three years, I have witnessed first-hand how the platform can be used to spread racism and other forms of discrimination. As much as this app should act as a bridge between neighbors, it has unfortunately become a tool to further divide us.

It is my sincere hope that the Nextdoor App will use its powers for good, to create a safe and tolerant space where everyone can come together and see past differences in race, religion or culture. We should all be afforded the opportunity to have open conversations with our neighbors and learn from each other, instead of being silenced by fear or hate. This platform should not be used to spread maliciousness but to create understanding, respect and peace.

We must all work together to ensure that our words and actions on Nextdoor App are those of positivity, respect and kindness. We can make a difference in our communities if we all take the time to pause and think before we post. Together, let us strive for a better future by turning this platform into one of understanding and unity.
