Thanks to everyone who signed petitions, emailed the trustees, and showed up at Board meetings and the car caravans yesterday. Here's your update and next steps:
UPDATE: Thanks to the pressure applied this weekend by parents and community, a special board meeting has been called for Tuesday night. The board will consider restoring the mask mandate and joining other litigation against the Governor's unconstitutional executive order. Creating a virtual option is NOT yet on the agenda, so we need to keep pushing!
As you know, a meeting Tuesday night is too late to protect our kids for the first two days of school, so we have to keep pushing for the board to do what is right.
NEXT STEPS
- If you do not feel safe sending your kids to school, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. If you are able to do so, keep them home on Monday and Tuesday. In addition to protecting your family, low attendance will send a loud and clear message to the district that they need to do more--and fast! Share your plans with your friends--feel free to include this graphic in your posts.
- Post mock back-to-school pictures of your kids on social media on Monday morning. Share your personal story of why you feel unsafe in your posts and use the hashtags #nomasksnoschool (masks plural, school singular), #virtualforvulnerable, and #FWISD
- Go ahead and send another email to the school board using this easy tool: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/nomasksnoschool. Then SHARE this link with all of your friends and family so they can write letters too.
- Plan to attend the FWISD Board meeting on Tuesday evening to make your voice heard! Click here for the agenda, address, and other details. Starting Monday morning, you can call 817-814-1956 to get your name on the list to make a public comment. It's more important than ever that we demonstrate how much people care, so please SHOW UP and SIGN UP TO SPEAK
Thanks everyone! Keep up the fight to protect our kids and community!
