Dear Supporters--

Last night, FWISD superintendent Kent Scribner announced that the district would implement a mask mandate, effectively immediately, for ALL people inside schools, buses, and other FWISD facilities. He cited a letter from over 100 pediatricians to justify the move, but we all know that it was your signatures, emails, social media posts, and other public pressure that moved the political needle (but thanks to the doctors too!). In short, we won!

Please join me in thanking Dr. Scribner, President Tobi Jackson, and the rest of the FWISD Board of Trustees who supported this move in the board's executive session. Thanks especially to trustees Jacinto Ramos, Jr., and Roxanne Martinez, who came out publicly to lead on this important issue and also had our backs from the beginning.

Having a mask mandate in place will make our kids and community MUCH safer. A quick thank-you email to each of these district leaders would be a great help as we continue to advocate for our kids and community (email links embedded above).

Speaking of which: we will continue to push for a virtual option for children under 12, especially those with preexisting medical conditions. If you want to stay up-to-date and sign future petitions, etc., please fill out this Google form.

Together, we proved that people power can overcome wannabe Texas dictators and inaction by our local elected officials. Let's keep up the fight! In solidarity,

Max Krochmal, on behalf of FWISD Parents and Community
