Tonight is the night! Come out and show your support for safe schools at the FWISD Board Meeting at 5:30 at the Professional Development Center, 3150 McCart Ave (at Berry). We need EVERYONE to show up, and we need as many people as possible to speak. Sign up by calling 817-814-1956 before 4pm--say you will speak on safety, agenda item 3. It's easy--you just have to tell your own personal story and explain why you want masks and a virtual option. Also, please continue to share this petition and today's graphic--together we can reach 1,000 signatures today!
BIG NEWS! Yesterday, Dallas ISD and Austin ISD both announced immediate mask mandates. Both districts--and many others--are also offering virtual academy options with open enrollment for anyone who wants it. FWISD can do the same! Additionally, we received a copy of a legal opinion from a Fort Worth attorney (and FWISD parent) that concludes that local school board DO HAVE the authority and responsibility to protect our kids--the state does NOT have that power. Meanwhile, a Texas nonprofit sued the Governor and asked for an injunction to stop his illegal order--and we expect more lawsuits to come!
We are gaining momentum! Keep up the fight and show up tonight!
