Formal Representation: A Collective Appeal regarding the UPSC CSE (Prelims) Exam 2026
The Issue
To,
The Secretary,
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC),
Dholpur House, New Delhi.
Subject: Collective grievance regarding the structure of GS Paper-I (Prelims 2026).
Respected Sir/Madam,
We, the candidates of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026, respectfully submit this representation regarding the GS Paper-I held on May 24, 2026.
Our Grievances:
Deviation from Blueprint: The paper deviated drastically from the established syllabus and historical trends, rendering the standard preparation framework ineffective.
Compromised Equity: The unconventional structure and arbitrary subject weightage fail to serve as a reliable assessment of core competencies, undermining the meritocratic nature of the examination.
Our Requests:
High-Level Review: Conduct a formal inquiry into the design of the 2026 GS Paper-I to ensure its alignment with the UPSC syllabus and institutional standards.
Remedial Measures: Given the unprecedented nature of this paper, we request the Commission to consider a re-examination that adheres to a predictable and reasonable format.
Transparency: Provide an official clarification regarding this shift to restore the integrity of the selection process and the confidence of the aspirant community.
We urge the Commission to address this collective concern with the gravity it deserves.
Respectfully,
The Aspirants of the UPSC CSE (Prelims) 2026
