Hi Everyone,
I wanted to provide a quick update following the Town Council meeting on January 20th. As many of you know, I attended the meeting to follow up on the data I presented earlier this month regarding school photography pricing.
The Current Status:
During the public portion of the meeting, I requested a status update on the documentation I provided regarding price disparities. While the Council members present noted that the Board of Education (BOE) maintains autonomy over its own vendor contracts, the Chairman listened to our concerns and indicated he would look into the matter.
To ensure there is a clear, transparent record of our request, I have sent a formal follow-up email to the entire Town Council body. In this communication, I emphasized that while the Council does not have direct jurisdiction over BOE contracts, they serve as the representatives of the taxpayers. We are asking the Council to use its position to open a dialogue with the Superintendent and the Board to ensure that the 2026-2027 contract is subject to a transparent, competitive bidding process. Our goal remains simple: ensuring Wolcott families no longer pay more for less value and fewer choices compared to neighboring districts.
How you can help right now:
Now that our evidence is officially on the record, we need to show the Council that this is a priority for the community.
1. Email the Town Clerk: Please send a polite email to Cindy Ammaral at camaral@wolcottct.org. These emails are shared with the full Council and become part of the official public record.
2. Share Your Experience: In your email, feel free to mention why fair pricing and better digital options matter to your family. Personal stories help illustrate that this is a widespread community concern.
3. Share the Petition: Every new signature strengthens our collective voice.

Subject: Support for Competitive Bidding – School Photography Contract
Dear Cindy,
Please share this email with the Town Council members for the official record.
I am writing as a Wolcott parent and taxpayer to express my support for the petition regarding school photography procurement. I am concerned about the current lack of competitive pricing and the limited package choices available to our families.
I understand the Board of Education has autonomy over their contracts, but I urge the Town Council to advocate for the families they represent by encouraging the Superintendent to review the current pricing disparities and implement a transparent, competitive bidding process for the 2026-2027 school year.
Thank you for your time and for ensuring our voices are heard.
Best regards,
