Forgiveness of Predatory Economic Injury Disaster Loan’s (EIDL)

Forgiveness of Predatory Economic Injury Disaster Loan’s (EIDL)
The Issue
Many small business owners, my spouse’s included have been severely weighed down by the debt incurred from the COVID-era Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs).
Just like many of you, our business was FORCED closed due to government-imposed lockdowns and restrictions. In this environment, where no alternative existed, we were left with no choice but to accept these interest accruing PREDATORY loans to simply survive.
The actions of our government not only robbed small businesses of their revenue, clientele, and growth potential but placed in our path a decades long mountain to climb.
I have witnessed friends and fellow business owners forced to close their doors, not because of a lack of passion or dedication, but rather because of this crushing debt. The lifetime of dreams and hard work for so many business owners has been thwarted by insidious financial weights that never should have been placed upon them in the first place.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, providing employment and local services that are essential for the social and economic fabric of our communities.
The very government that assured us support in times of crisis has now ensnared us in a debt trap. This is more than just a financial oversight; it's a fundamental injustice, resembling what could only be described as predatory lending.
The EIDLs, while intended as relief, have transformed into instruments of financial distress. Without active engagement and relief from these loans, more small businesses will continue to falter, unable to overcome the financial obstacles imposed upon them.
Therefore, we demand immediate action to forgive COVID-era EIDLs, allowing small and micro businesses nationwide to recover fully and contribute to the rebuilding of our economic landscape post-pandemic.
We need our policymakers to recognize this crisis and move to correct an oversight that is stifling small businesses' potential to thrive.
Stand with us in calling for justice and economic recovery. Sign this petition to urge our leaders to forgive COVID-era EIDLs and support the heart of our nation's economy. Together, we can ensure that small businesses have a fighting chance to succeed and sustain our communities.
