An Oregon homeowner facing foreclosure traveled to Washington DC to talk to her Members of Congress. All of them met with her, except her own Representative Greg Walden. Walden’s office told her “foreclosure is not an issue we are hearing about in our district.”

There were over 3700 foreclosures in 2010 in just 1 of the 20 counties in his district.

Members of Congress swear an oath to provide for the common welfare of the people of the United States. When they make choices that hurt everyone, then everyone has a right to hold them accountable. No matter where you live – in Oregon’s Congressional District 2, in another district in Oregon or in another state – sign this petition today to hold Walden accountable for his choices.

Representative Walden has continued to ignore the real needs of the American people during this recession. His votes take money out of the pockets of regular people while handing money over to large corporations and to the rich, including:

– Voting to subvert all banking reform to avert another economic meltdown, while also voting to defund federal help for people seeking to avoid home foreclosure.

– Voting to preserve $40 billion of subsidies and tax loopholes for the oil industry, while cutting emergency home heating assistance for low-income people.

It’s time to stop foreclosing on homeowners in need and start foreclosing on politicians that default on their responsibilities to the people of this country.
