Hello,
This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:
Good morning,
The first public meeting that I attended during the public comment process for the land swap was on February 24th, 2016 and was held at Gold Camp Elementary School.
At that meeting Sara Bryarly of our Parks Dept. gave a presentation.
She stated that the section of the Barr Trail on the land that the city wanted to acquire from the Cog Railway had drainage problems and erosion damage.
The city opened the door to that issue.
After that I began asking for details.
The city refused to mention the drainage problems and erosion damage after that night.
Sara Bryarly never gave another presentation.
The city cannot come forward during a public comment process and disclose that the land has drainage problems and erosion damage and then refuse to detail the specifics if asked.
The city has, and is acting criminally in this matter.
The city wanted the public to agree to acquire that land.
Once the city disclosed the problems they have to tell us how much it will cost to fix those problems.
The city failed to even mention the fact that $40,000 a year, every year is spent doing repairs to that land.
Did the Broadmoor Hotel provide the cost of the needed repairs to the appraiser?
Did they inform the appraiser that $40,000 a year, ever year was being spent doing repairs to that land?
The city felt that the drainage problems and erosion damage were significant enough to mention, but once I started asking how bad it was and how much it will cost to fix it the city refused to mention it again.
That is illegal.
The city opened the door and the city has to provide the information to me today.
Thank you, Carl Strow
