Petition updateForce Colorado Springs to Repair the Barr TrailLOOKING FOR ANSWERS
COS Land Swap
Nov 12, 2023

Hello,

This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:

Good morning,

Rocky Mountain Field Institute is doing $40,000 a year in repairs on the land that the city acquired from the Cog Railway in the land swap.

They have done this every summer beginning in 2013.

They must know every detail about this trail and its needs.

Has RMFI told the city that the trail on this land needs a drainage study?

If so, how much do they estimate that it will cost?

How much do they estimate that a new fence to stop switchback cutting will cost?

How much do they estimate it will cost to repair all of the erosion damage on this land?

What is the total estimated cost for all needed repairs on this land according to RMFI?

Would a member of the City Council or the Mayor's office please provide me with this information?

Sources have told me for years that RMFI has told the city that the land we acquired from the Cog Railway in the land swap needs at least one million dollars in repairs.

Is this true?

Thank you, Carl Strow
