PUBLIC DISCLOSURE OF THE COST OF THE REPAIRS
Hello,
It is not right for politics to deprive the Barr Trail of the care that it needs.
The city calls itself “Proud Stewards of America's Mountain”.
That is absurd, just take a hike and look at the condition of the section of the Barr Trail that the city owns.
Evil triumphs when good men do nothing.
Our city government and local media are indeed doing nothing.
It is shocking that the public still knows nothing of the flaws in the land swap, or the horrific deterioration of the Barr Trail, and the hillside on which it sits.
The city broke the law by refusing to answer my legitimate questions during the public comment process.
The city of Manitou Springs has become a partner in the ongoing cover up of the need for hundreds of thousands of dollars in repairs to the Barr Trail.
This is not our mountain, it is America's Mountain.
The Barr Trail does not belong to us, even if the city does own a little over two miles of it.
The Barr Trail is a National Recreational Trail, it is a trail of significance to every man, woman and child in our nation.
We offend the entire nation as we allow the Barr Trail to slip further and further into decline simply to cover up our mistakes.
The land swap has no value that rises to the level of importance to our nation as does the Barr Trail.
The public has right and a need to know that the Barr Trail is in a state of decline, and to know the estimated cost of all needed repairs.
Thank you, Carl Strow
