Petition updateForce Colorado Springs to Repair the Barr Trail

THIS DOES NOT ANSWER MY QUESTIONS

COS Land Swap
Mar 18, 2020

At the City Council meeting eight days ago I was promised that I would get answers to my questions in an email. I had not received any communication from the City so I emailed them this morning.

Below is the response I got:

Hello,
I wanted to forward this email to everyone right away. It does not answer my questions. I will prepare a more official response, but let me say that the public comment process held for the land swap is incomplete until my questions are honestly answered. This response from the city does not appear to be sincere.

Thank you, Carl Strow

Hi Carl,

Thank you for your email. I apologize for the delay in this response as the City has been in the midst of changing policies and procedures in response to COVID-19. Per our Parks Department, annual costs to perform the necessary maintenance to the portion of trail owned by the City are estimated by the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) to be approximately $40,000 to maintain the status quo of the trail with minimal upgrades. In addition, Friends of the Peak routinely perform maintenance on the Barr Trail, but this is outside the costs incurred by RMFI.

I hope this answers your question.

Warmest regards,

Sam Friedman
