HAS THE CITY RETALIATED?

COS Land Swap
Mar 26, 2019

Here are my comments for the City Council today:

Good afternoon,

There has been much discussion about the bike lanes in Old North End. Why has no one mentioned the horrific appearance of the new striping there?

The striping on Cascade and Fontanero is sloppy and unprofessional. It is inconsistent. It is ugly and offensive.

More than one type of pattern was used. Why was that done?

The width between the stripes is inconsistent in many places.

In other places the striping weaves as if the crewmen doing the striping were intoxicated at the time.

Some of the new stripes are fading very badly. The old striping even shows through in many places.

I have not seen such problems with striping anywhere else in the City. This leads me to ask if the City intentionally did work of a poor quality.

Why would the paint be fading so badly after only seven months? Some of the white paint is fading, as well as some of the yellow.

The City cannot claim that a mistake was made on one day. The striping was not done all at once, the crew came to the area four or five different times over a month or two.

I attended a public meeting a year ago on the proposed bike lanes. I am sure that the city was exerting undue influence on the audience in multiple ways. Has the District Attorney's Office told the City that the public comment process was flawed to the point of being invalid? Do they want the restriping in Old North End to be reversed?

Why did I find a Police Officer running my plates to see if my car was stolen, two days before it was actually stolen?

Was that Officer sent to do that?

Did any City Official know that my car was going to be stolen before the crime occurred on January 12th?

Did any City Official tell the El Paso County Sheriffs Dept. not to inform me when my stolen car was recovered?

On Feb. 6th, were those two CSPD Officers mocking me about the fact that I did not know that my stolen car had been recovered?

By the time I learned that it had been recovered 16 days later, the bill at the impound lot was over $400.00.

Why did the City fail to answer the email that I sent about this on Feb. 12th? My car was auctioned off on March 12th.

In my email of Feb. 12th I asked that these questions be investigated. What has the City learned?

Have I suffered retaliation for my activism?
