New Zealands cattle industry has increased its methane emissions by 8.1% since 1990, and methane accounts for 22.4% of our total gas emissions. If we are to decrease our effect on climate change we need to tax cattle farmers, making them think carefully about their greenhouse emissions and create change in the industry. If we don't act now the gases will have degrading effect on the environment and will endanger the safety of everyone in the future. Greenhouse gases speed up climate change by trapping heat in the atmosphere, and they also contribute to respiratory disease from smog and air pollution.
