For Quiet Users Too: Reinstate ‘Post Only to Profile’ on Instagram

For Quiet Users Too: Reinstate ‘Post Only to Profile’ on Instagram
The Issue
We respectfully call on the Instagram team to bring back the option to “Post directly to profile” or “Share only to profile.”
For many users, Instagram is more than a social platform—it is a personal space for preserving memories, milestones, and everyday moments. Not everyone uses it for public sharing. Some of us are introverted or socially anxious, and this feature once allowed us to engage with the platform in a way that felt safe, private, and manageable.
Having the ability to post directly to our profiles—without the pressure of broader visibility—helped reduce overthinking, eased social anxiety, and protected our sense of self. It gave us control over how we shared our lives and allowed us to use Instagram in a way that aligned with our comfort and well-being.
This option existed before, and its presence made a meaningful difference for users navigating internal struggles. Bringing it back would be a simple yet powerful step toward making the platform more inclusive, compassionate, and supportive of diverse user needs.
We hope you will consider restoring this feature—not just as a setting, but as a way to give users back a sense of control, safety, and belonging in their own digital space.
