Due to a recent spike in vandalism, the bathrooms at Foothill High School have been locked during classes. No one can use the restroom except during lunch and the passing period. This has many problems.

First of all, this is communal punishment. What about the 2000 other students who never vandalized? Why are they being punished? Foothill administration is ruling like the Mongols, with communal discipline, and this is not okay. News flash, the Mongols are gone, so this type of punishment should be gone too.

Second of all, there is a "legal loophole" in which people who are having to go urgently can. They have to ask their teacher, get their signed approval, get their pass, take it all the way to the office, ask the personnel, walk to the bathroom, and then they can go. This defeats the point of having to go urgently. This would take 5-10 minutes and when someone needs to go, they need to go, not wait.

Finally, they aren't even unlocking the bathrooms during the passing period. While going to the third period, I saw about 15 people waiting for the bathroom to be unlocked, which is not okay. People have been waiting all period, and they can't wait for another.

This is unfair, but I propose a solution. Implement security cameras or use an ID number/biometric scanner/recorder for entry into the restrooms. This keeps it secure and we can use the bathrooms at any time. Please sign the petition, you can be kept anonymous, to encourage implementation of this change. Hopefully, this "devious licks" trend will stop and all will go back to normal.
