Soccer has grown into one of the biggest sport in the World. It has become a major source of income for a large number of sports people, sports organisers, clubs and their staff.

However the situation is desperate in most low-income countries and communities. In this places there is a huge problem with access to opportunities and resources. The leagues in countries like Kenya, Uganda are in desperate need for resources to ensure the sport becomes a major earner. As at now these leagues operate in situations that can be called deplorable and demonstrate a notable form of FOOTBALL POVERTY in quality and quantity.

In the meantime the big five leagues in the world are monopolizing the channels through which such leagues can be grown to a level that will bring the required momentum of growth and productivity. The amount of resources exchanging hands in the big leagues are so huge while a comparison to what trickles down to the leagues in the low-income countries and communities cannot bring about any level of sustainable development. 

It is important for the biggest stakeholders to recognize the need for awn equitable resource allocation and distribution within all levels of the game. Without which we are leaving a big group of people behind in abject poverty and total desperation. Efforts should be made to finance establishment of proper facilities in such countries and communities alongside with promotion of sports management education.
