I am pleased to share that, as a direct result of our petition, both IT Varsity and FNB App Academy have publicly acknowledged responsibility for misleading marketing practices. While they have regrettably confirmed that no NQF Level 5 certificates will be issued to the current cohort, they have pledged to rectify their approach and honour their promises with the next intake.
This petition was never intended to destroy reputable organisations, but rather to hold powerful institutions accountable for false representations. In forcing IT Varsity and App Academy to admit their missteps, we have vindicated every learner who felt betrayed and amplified the call for transparency in educational marketing.
However, in light of their lack of trust and transparency, I cannot nor will I recommend IT Varsity or FNB App Academy to any prospective learner this year. Our victory today is measured not by certificates awarded, but by the fact that these institutions can no longer ignore the voices of those they serve.
Thank you to everyone who backed this petition. Our collective action has proven that, even as one voice on the internet, each of us has the power to demand honesty and justice. Let us remain vigilant and ensure that future cohorts receive precisely what is promised no more, no less.
