Dear petition signers,

     As we are swiftly approaching almost one year since Florida Power and Light took over our electric company we are left wondering where is the accountability. Almost 20,000 people signed this petition. Many city councils and County Commissioners across NWFL wrote a letter to the Public Service Commission on behalf of all of us they represent asking for them to review the largest increase in Florida  history! A few state reps also spoke out.... Michelle Salzman, Doug Broxson and Matt Gates spoke about our hardships on the news. Where is the response? Where is the follow up? Many of us filed complaints with the Public Service Commission only to be contacted by the Florida Power and Light, the very company we were complaining about! That is not investing! That is not being a watch dog for the people they were appointed to represent! We deserve answers and officials that take us seriously and will fight for us! That is the very reason they hold the offices they do! How many of our elected officials have lined their pockets with FPL money or hung out in the lounge across from the Florida Capitol? People are still struggling across NWFL!!!!! People are still having to sacrifice necessities to pay unjustly high power bills! Now FPL is looking for another rate increase! It is time the Florida Public Service Commission starts acting like the watch dog they are supposed to be and not the lap dog they have been acting like!  Why every time Florida Power and Light makes a request is it rubber stamped? The Florida Public Service Commission should not be appointed! They should be elected by the they are sworn to represent! The situation we have been dealing with in NWFL is a testament to that! We have been organizing and coming together as a collective in the Facebook group FPL Price Gouging North West Florida. For any of you interested we will be holding an event in Pensacola September 20 5:30 p.m at a Little Madness Brewing Company 9838 Davis Highway! We will be discussing what is coming next and looking for your input! I look forward to meeting some of you! There will be free yard signs while supplies last! Please do not stop filing complaints even if you feel they go unanswered. Please do not stop calling your state rep and demanding accountability! Florida Power and Light was forced on us without any other option available. We must see this through for all the families this company is crushing.
