We must ALL send an e-mail IMMEDIATELY to save the Anti-Dog-Tethering Bill
The Florida attended-tethering-only dog chaining legislation, SB650 is stalled in the Florida Senate and its companion Bill HB177 has yet to be introduced in the House of Representatives. Unless the Bills are introduced next week, they will die and dogs will remain on chains 24/7/365. Here are several key individuals that are responsible for the Bills stalling.
Marion Hammer is the former president and lobbyist of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Ms. Hammer recently stated that she has kept her dogs on chains and sees nothing wrong with dog chaining and is she is against this legislation. While the NRA is not officially on record as being against the legislation, Ms. Hammer’s personal opinion has tremendous influence on legislators.
Senator Wilton Simpson (R), Pasco, Citrus and Hernando Counties. As the President of the Florida Senate, he can influence what bills are, and are not, introduced to the Senate subcommittees.
Representative Chris Sprowls (R), northern Pinellas County is the Speaker of the House. Like the President of the Senate, the Speaker has influence over what bills get introduced to the respective House subcommittees. HB177 has yet to be introduced to any House subcommittees.
Representative Wyman Duggan (R), western Duval County, despite repeated requests, Representative Duggan has yet to introduce HB177 to the House Civil Justice & Property Rights Committee.
PLEASE, every one of us, take a moment to click the STOPCHAININGDOGS link below to send a brief e-mail to these key legislators and tell them to move SB650 and HB177 forward. Their individual emails are also listed below. We can make this happen.
