First the good news! The Florida anti-dog-chaining legislation cleared its first hurdle in the Senate when it passed the Senate Agricultural Committee in a bipartisan vote of 9 – 0! The next stop in the Senate is the Community Affairs Committee.
Now the not-so-good news. Despite repeated requests from advocates, Representative Wyman Duggan (Jacksonville) has yet to introduce this legislation to the House Civil Justice & Property Rights Committee. If Representative Duggan does not introduce the legislation, it dies.
Please take a moment and call Representative Duggan’s office, 850.717.5015 and leave a message, and click his name below to send him and the other members of his committee an email asking him to introduce “Florida HB 177, anti-dog-chaining legislation.” Be sure to tell him if you are a resident of Florida.
Thank you for speaking for those who cannot.
