Florida Dog Chaining Bill at risk of being neutered.
The day before a critical committee vote, Florida State Senator Keith Perry (District 8; Putnam , Marian, Alachua Counties) altered the attended-tethering-only bill (SB 650) by adding an amendment to allow any and all “hunting dogs” to be tethered 24/7/365. This amendment creates a huge loophole because any dog can be considered a “hunting dog.” The original SB 650 already provides an exemption for dogs that actively hunting.

If you are a resident of Florida, be sure to make that point. You may also want to remind the legislators that in 2010, 3-year-old Violet Serenity Haaker was mauled to death by a chained dog in Senator Perry’s district.
