Ten minutes of your life can remove his chain for the rest of his life!
With the support of some animal friendly legislators and a dedicated group of animal welfare advocates, our attending-tethering-only effort is progressing, but we need your help.
Florida HB 177 has been assigned to the House Civil Justice and Property Rights Subcommittee. For the bill to progress, the Chair of the Subcommittee must introduce the Bill. Once introduced, the Bill will be discussed, and a vote is held. If the Bill passes, it will move to a second subcommittee for discussion and a vote. If passed, it moves to the full House for more discussion and a final vote. The process will be repeated in the Senate for the companion Bill, SB 650. HB 177 and SB 650 have twenty-eight co-sponsors.
Here is what you can do to show your support for HB 177: Send an email and call the representatives listed below. If you call, you are likely to get a voicemail or perhaps a legislative aide. Simply state that you support HB 177, and ask them to do the same and stop unattended dog chaining in Florida. If you live in Florida, make sure to mention that in your email or during your call.
