Help protect Thornhill Rock pineland forest

Help protect Thornhill Rock pineland forest

The Issue

There is an emergent problem being planned on Floresta and Thornhill area. This a natural sensitive wildlife habitat that's about to be mowed down, consisting of saw palmettos, tortoise burrows, and native pine trees.

Initially the projection was to be up to 30% to accommodate water retention which was presented at the 2018 city meeting. The new projection looks triple the size, nearly complete mowing down of the rock pineland forest and relocation of gopher burrows.

Aside from being environmentally sensitive, it fiscally seems a lot more money and permit fees which can be costly.

It was not the original plan that was talked about at numerous Floresta workshop meetings in 2018. The destruction would have been minimal according to original plans and not affecting the dense rock pineland forest

I would like to ask the city Floresta planner to look into preserving this green space, look for other areas to accommodate water retention, once it's gone it's gone forever.
