Leading newspapers like Asian Age, Business Standard, Deccan Chronicle, Hindustan, Millennium Post, The Hindu, and The Hindu Business Line have given adequate space to this petition and have asked for a clarification from e-commerce websites. So far the petition seems to be building accountability among the e-commerce websites. This is evident from the fact that one of the representatives from flipkart was quoted as saying in newspapers, “All our sellers are expected to adhere to certain guidelines if they sell with us. Any violation of these guidelines is taken very seriously. We take strict action against sellers who attract negative feedback about their service or are found to be engaged in selling products that are fake, in violation of copyright or any other applicable laws of the land." Since the petition was started, Naaptol removed the publication promoting sex selection from its website. Whereas Amazon.in, Flipkart.com and Jungle.com have partially removed these publications on sex selection (as noted at 3:20 pm IST on February 19th, 2015). This petition with your support has indeed created a discourse among online users, common people, media and civil society groups about access to and availability of publications on gender-biased sex selection.
