My daily commute takes me through the Alderton Drive roundabout in Colebee, near Greenway Village/Woolworths, and I experience first-hand the growing chaos and frustration caused by the frequent traffic blockages. This is not just an inconvenient delay; it's a persistent problem affecting everyone who lives, works, or shops in our neighbourhood. Every day, I see vehicles entering the roundabout with no space to exit, leaving other drivers trapped at a standstill.
The primary issue seems to stem from a lack of adequate traffic control measures at this critical junction. When cars queue and stop within the roundabout, it not only obstructs free flow but also poses significant safety risks, especially for emergency vehicles that might need to navigate through quickly. It's not hard to imagine the dangerous consequences if an ambulance were delayed because of this congestion.
This situation demands urgent attention from Blacktown City Council and relevant traffic authorities. We propose a thorough investigation into the traffic patterns at the intersection followed by the implementation of effective measures to manage and reduce congestion. Possible solutions could include the installation of traffic lights, widening of entrance and exit lanes, or the introduction of signs to guide driver behaviour more effectively.
