The lifts at Union station failed yet again earlier this week.

This ongoing situation is unacceptable, as it continues to prevent people who cannot use stairs—whether due to disability, mobility issues, injury, or navigating with prams—from accessing the station.

The only response we have received from the state government was via the Herald Sun (5 December 2024):

“The lifts at Union Station were out of service for a short period of time. Technicians are currently carrying out further rectification works – they are fully operational, with all platforms accessible by stairs and lifts.”

In the absence of any direct communication, we must assume that the rectification works were either not performed or have been unsuccessful.
